The red deer rutting season started in mid-August. An event was organised on 13rd and 20th September 2014 starting late afternoon, where participants could take the narrow gauge train and listen to the deer rut. The lucky ones could even spot fighting and bellowing stags at Lake Baláta. The train, that was full both times, took the guests from the lake to other locations, then arriving back to Kaszó they enjoyed a nice game dinner at the restaurant.

The team of Kaszó Forestry Co. received a first prize in the category of meals made of venison at the cooking competition of the 8th National Game Gastronomy Festival on 6th September 2014 in Soponya. They also won the Master of Wild Game Cooking Cup.

On 30th August 2014 a young couple tied the knot at Lake Kűvölgyi. The picturesque scenery made the joyful event even more special.

We organized the 3rd Kaszó Beer Run on the Eastern part of Lake Baláta on 2nd August 2014. Each team consisted of 4 members and their task was to find the beer that had been hidden to different places, then drink the beer and return to Kaszó with the emply bottles and caps. For directions each team was given a map. Just like in the previous years, the event went well. Not only could the participants put their sense of direction to the test, but also as a reward for finding the hidden drinks, they could slake their thirst in the summer heat. Since their route was different from the hiking trail, they were able to see less visited places, such as Kis-Baláta.

The contract connected to the KEOP call was signed by the winner of the procurement procedure and KASZÓ Forestry Co. The aim of the proposal is to eliminate invasive species, like Prunus serotina, Alianthus and Robinia in order to rehabilitate degraded Alluvial forests with Alnus glutinosa and Fraxinus excelsior habitats. The elimination of invasive species has been carried out at almost all parts of KASZÓ Forestry Co., especially in the most infected parts of the forest so that later on the LIFE project area would be overinfected by the semination of trees.

By becoming a Family Friendly Workplace, KASZÓ Forestry Co. received a grant to organize family events as well. In the frame of the above mentioned, a summer camp was put together for the children of the KASZÓ Forestry Co. employees between 7th and 11th July 2014. As part of the different events, the young ones took the narrow gauge railway to Lake Baláta and also learnt about wetland habitats and the importance of water in connection with the running LIFE project.
